Chisinau, July 28th, 2015. Today, on 28.07.15, a round table on the Principles of Technical Regulation and how EU Directives are being transposed in the field of legal metrology was organized in the framework of the EU Twinning project „Strengthening of the standards and metrology sector according to the best practice in the EU Member States”. Technical regulation plays an important role in a country to realize fair trade between all economic partners and also to realize a certain level of consumer protection. Generally speaking, technical regulation gives a framework for all institutions that have to obey rules for dealing with products, such as manufacturers, importers, distributors, maintenance services, and last but not least users and consumers. The seminar gave an overview of Technical Regulation in the EU in general, but also as an example looked into the EU New Approach Directive that led to a harmonized treatment of measuring instruments within the EU: the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID, 2014/32/EU). MID was introduced in more detail. The Lecturers of the Table were Dumitru Dinu, BRML, Romania and Peter Ulbig, PTB, Germany.
